Podcast: New UK Investment Firms Prudential Regime 2022 – Practical Perspectives

18 November 2021

The UK Investment Firms Prudential Regime (IFPR) is planned for full implementation by 1st of January 2022, but how much of the detailed guidelines are you fully aware of?

With several doubts and discussions around the topic, Apex Group invited Remmert Keijzer, Associate Director - Government Affairs, at AIMA, along with Samuel Betha, Senior Manager, CFO Advisory at EY, UK to try and unravel the topic along with Apex Group's Global Head of Compliance Solutions, Hari Bhambra.

This podcast aims to present a brief version of the regime change for Investment Firms, helping them with their new prudential classification, and based on that, what the implications of this new regime will be specifically, the composition of the own funds requirement - including the Permanent Minimum Requirement (PMR), the Fixed Overhead Requirement (FOR) and the K-factor (KFR) and other invaluable insights on what the next steps should be for firms now.

The podcast will help firms understand if they are in scope of the IFPR and which categories of investment firms, SNI or Non-SNI and the associated implications. For firms that are in the scope of IFPR, this podcast presents a step by step approach that can be taken by them to address this transitional period, including the SNI determination, Remuneration Codes and consideration of any waivers or transitional provisions that need to be considered as a consequence of this change.

The ICARA is another aspect of the IFPR that inspires a lot of curiosity and confusion. It's important to understand what the industry should be looking at to prepare from ICAAP to ICARA, the timing of that shift and also how one is expected to process the historical data that they're dealing with now before they reach the next reference date?

If you're an investment firm which is working towards preparing your firm for the IFPR changes, this podcast provides a useful reminder and process for action items to consider in readiness for 1st January 2022.
