Private markets are expected to surpass traditional investment strategies in revenue by 2027, driven primarily by growth in private equity, private credit, and real assets, according to Morningstar’s data. Private equity already accounts for 39% of the market, driven by consolidation and scale, while private credit is gaining momentum as tighter banking regulations fuel demand for alternative financing. This shift is creating new opportunities and driving demand for more sophisticated infrastructure and operational models.
We recently spoke with Navita Yadav, our Super Regional Head for Europe, and Eddie Kelly, our Global Head of Product for Private Debt, about how their teams are working with private equity managers entering this area and how institutional infrastructure is supporting a broader range of strategies.
Understanding the debt landscape
Navita distinguishes between three parts of the market: the liquid bond and note segment, the more restricted loan market, and the expanding private credit space. Her team works across all three, supporting bond issuance and loan servicing as well as managing private credit funds across Europe, Asia, and the US.
Over the past 16 years, Eddie’s team has developed tools and workflows tailored to jurisdiction-specific requirements. Many firms rely on them as a practical extension of their internal operations, supporting everything from deal origination and treasury to finance and control functions.
“Private credit is not just an extension of private equity. It’s a different discipline with different demands.” – Navita Yadav
A model built on experience
Our private credit platform has matured to meet growing demand. With a flexible model spanning fund administration, middle office services, and data solutions, we support clients across the credit spectrum including private debt, real estate credit, syndicated debt, and even aviation finance.
Eddie emphasised the importance of aligning with how each client views their strategy and operations. That often means becoming an extension of their team, supporting not only the fund itself but also the broader functions behind it from treasury and risk to finance and compliance.
“We support the strategy behind the strategy, not just the fund, but the functions that keep it moving.” – Eddie Kelly
Building around data
Live, actionable data is now a baseline expectation. Clients increasingly require daily insights to support decision-making and enable more flexible portfolios. Our platform, built on Snowflake, integrates information across asset classes and jurisdictions to provide a consistent view, without the need to scale internal teams or invest in costly third-party systems.
This approach enables clients to adapt quickly whether shifting from real estate credit to syndicated debt or exploring tokenised instruments without rebuilding their technology stack.
Supporting new strategies
As private equity managers expand into debt, they often encounter new operational requirements. It isn’t just a product decision - it requires changes in operations, oversight, compliance, and technology.
Navita pointed out that the shift requires an entirely different model, in terms of both infrastructure and mindset. Her team works closely with firms to ensure they understand the practical steps involved, from building jurisdictional knowledge to structuring early deals.
Eddie noted that innovation in areas such as tokenisation, retail access, and cross-border structuring is accelerating. Both teams are helping clients prepare for this shift, not just by delivering operational support, but by offering insight into what is likely to come next.
“The challenge is rarely the product - it’s setting up a platform that can adapt as strategy, regulation, and distribution models change.” – Eddie Kelly
Operating at the intersection of equity and debt
Private debt is fast becoming a core pillar of modern portfolios, while technology is reshaping how managers approach risk, liquidity, and diversification. The convergence of equity and debt is not a passing trend, but a structural shift that demands new thinking and new partners.
Whether supporting an established debt manager or guiding a private equity firm into new strategies, we are ready to deliver the infrastructure, data, and operational support they need to succeed.
