Apex & DSGCP: One Year of Working Together

23 July 2020

Mahesh Doorgakant, Managing Director, at Apex Mauritius reflects on one year of working with venture capital client, DSGCP.

In Q2 2019, we began working with DSGCP, one of India and Southeast Asia’s leading consumer focused venture fund, to provide a range of transfer agency, fund accounting, taxation, corporate secretary, compliance and directorship services.

Apex was chosen as a partner by DSGCP due to the breadth of our capabilities and reputation for providing a responsive, dynamic and solution-oriented service.

“We were initially cautious about moving our business and it was not a decision we took lightly – but we hugely reassured by the strong references feedback on Apex given by other administrators and GPs in the market.” comments Deepak I. Shahdadpuri, Managing Director, DSGCP

In particular, DSGCP has benefited from Apex’s tailored service and software solutions designed specifically for private equity and venture capital. This, along with Apex’s extensive global track record of working with the asset class has provided a value-added service to DSGCP’s private equity operations.

Reflecting on the first year of the relationship, Mr Shahdadpuri adds:  “One year on from appointing Apex we can say with absolute certainty that this was the right move. The quality of service, promptness and attention to detail has been outstanding and is something which we value highly. We have been most impressed by the depth and breadth of experience and quality of advice Apex offer, built from many years of advising funds.”

Apex supported a number of transformative initiatives during the year, including:

  • The successful launch of two new Funds with Apex Mauritius;
  • The set-up of all the DSG funds, GPs and SPVs on eFront – thus enhancing the quality of the deliverables and ensuring consistencies across all their funds; and
  • Establishing governance mechanisms both at GP and funds levels whilst ensuring proactive and value addition service.

Mr Shahdadpuri concludes: “As DSGCP grows as a group from a small investment holding company to a larger and regulated entity, it is important that we constantly look to uphold the levels of governance and Apex has played a crucial role in this.”

We look forward to continuing to work with and support DSGCP on their growth trajectory in the years ahead.
