02 March 2018

Sustained Growth at the Apex Group Sees Cork Headcount Double and Drives Continued Expansion in Ireland

Cork, 2 March 2018: Financial Services provider, Apex Fund Services (“Apex”), has announced the creation of 50 new jobs at the opening of its new expanded offices in Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork this week. The global Apex Group specialises in delivering fund administration and middle offices services  to asset mangers worldwide. The firm has experienced unprecedented growth over the last year, both  organically and through acquisition. Now the 8th largest fund administrator in the world, Apex expects to increase headcount across its Irish offices over the next 18 months.

Speaking at the opening of the new offices, Apex Fund Services (Ireland) Managing Director, Bryan Atkinson, said, “Rapid expansion at Apex is driving the demand for additional talented resources across the group globally. Ireland is one of the world’s largest financial hubs and an extremely important service centre for Apex, with offices in Cork, Dublin and Sligo. With Brexit looming, more and more managers are looking to the Irish funds industry for stability and we are in the perfect position to service that business. Apex Ireland employs a dynamic team and provides a unique opportunity for those interested in working in the financial services sector, to learn and gain invaluable experience at a global business. We have invested in the new office for our Cork team to support this ongoing expansion as we look to increase headcount here in the coming 12- 18 months. It’s an exciting time for Apex and for the Irish employee population, providing more room for progression and exposure to learning new products as we expand.”

Ireland’s thriving fund administration sector hosts 250 of the worlds leading financial services firms, including half of the world’s top 50 banks with international operations in Ireland. While Dublin is a major global hub for fund administration, Cork also boasts a large number of financial services firms and this sector continues to expand in the region.

The Apex Group recently acquired Deutsche Bank’s Alternative Fund Services business in October 2017, adding €170 billion to Apex’s assets under administration. It is expected that Apex will also expand its headcount in Dublin and Sligo going forward.

An Tánaiste Simon Coveney T.D. welcomed the announcement of the new offices at Carrigtwohill and increase in headcount at the firm.

“For 30 years, Ireland has been a major global hub for financial services, thanks to a number of government initiatives and innovative companies driving growth. Cork has positioned itself as an ideal alternative to Dublin, and is successfully attracting industry and talent here. I want to congratulate Apex Ireland on its continued expansion and wish the team every success at their new offices in Carrigtwohill, close to Cork city.”

The firm is actively recruiting experienced professionals and graduates in corporate finance, accounting and commerce to fill roles in the Cork office. Given the location of the new offices in East Cork on the N25 motorway, the company is particularly targeting graduates from Waterford Institute of Technology, Cork Institute of Technology and University College Cork.
