ESG Factors Driving Change in Asset Management - 2019 Outlook

28 February 2019

Environmental, Social and Governance – the three core factors for measuring the sustainability, responsibility and ethical impact of an investment: commonly referred to as ESG, and a hot topic for asset managers in 2019.

Although ESG has been around for a number of years, it is clear that a rapidly increasing number of funds and allocators are beginning to recognise its importance on a global scale. Some of the drivers for this are economic, yet others are a reflection of society, demographic changes and secular attitudinal shifts.

Risk factors are increasing due to increased complexities in regulation, pollution, political unrest, migration, weather disruption etc. and these factors are combining to create global change, forcing the investment management space to be fluid and respond accordingly to mitigate those risks.
