Apex Group Ltd. (“Apex Group”), a leading global financial services provider with more than US$3.5 trillion in assets serviced, today announced that NtisoAkhona has acquired a minority stake in FundRock Collective Investments (RF) (Pty) Ltd (“FundRock Collective Investments South Africa”), reinforcing Apex Group’s commitment to local ownership and the continued growth of its South African operations.
The investment builds on the longstanding relationship between Apex Group and NtisoAkhona and further strengthens FundRock Collective Investments South Africa’s position as a leading provider of collective investment scheme management. The transaction also aligns Apex Group’s South African operations with local ownership priorities while underscoring its commitment to one of its most important global markets.
Apex Group employs more than 1,200 people across Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria, supporting clients with more than US$300 billion (ZAR 5 trillion) in assets under administration. FundRock Collective Investments South Africa is the largest unit trust management company (manco) in Africa, overseeing US$40 billion (ZAR 650 billion) in assets under management.
NtisoAkhona is a Black-owned investment consortium led by respected South African business leaders Mcebisi Jonas and Noluthando Gosa. Already a shareholder partnerin other Apex Group South African businesses, NtisoAkhona is expanding its investment in the Group through this transaction, further strengthening Apex Group’s Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) ownership structure. Greenpoint Capital provided funding in support of the transaction and continues to partner with NtisoAkhona as a funding partner, reinforcing the consortium’s ability to pursue long-term strategic investments.
